Biography
Winner of the 18th Young Soloists Competition of the Cali Philharmonic and two-time first prize recipient of the “Bogotá Lírica” Singing Award organized by the Bogotá Philharmonic Orchestra, Colombian soprano Laura Gómez has established herself as one of the most promising voices of her generation. She began her musical training in the Network of Music Schools of Medellín and later earned her degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Antioquia.
As a soloist, she has performed in major symphonic and choral works such as Mozart’s Requiem and Coronation Mass, Beethoven’s Mass in C Major and Ninth Symphony, Górecki’s Symphony of Sorrowful Songs, Wagner’s Wesendonck Lieder, and Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 2 "Lobgesang", the latter under the baton of Andrés Orozco-Estrada with the National Symphony Orchestra of Colombia. She has also been a featured soloist in numerous operatic and symphonic performances with the Medellín Philharmonic and the Cali Philharmonic.
Her operatic repertoire includes roles such as the Countess in The Little Marriage of Figaro, Berta in The Barber of Seville, the Witch in Hansel and Gretel, Justina in The Mysterious Castle, Tisbe in La Cenerentola, Rosaura in Los Gavilanes, and Micaëla in Carmen. In 2020, she made her debut with the Ópera de Colombia as Nella in Gianni Schicchi. In 2023, she appeared at the Teatro Mayor Julio Mario Santo Domingo in the title role of La vida es sueño by Juan Pablo Carreño, and in 2024, she portrayed Ascensión in the zarzuela La del manojo de rosas. In 2025, she made her debut at the Cartagena International Music Festival performing the role of Berta in The Barber of Seville.
Throughout her career, she has worked under the direction of renowned conductors such as Alejandro Roca, Manuel Hernández-Silva, Marc Moncusí, Gonzalo Ospina, Ricardo Jaramillo, Guerassim Voronkov, Marcelo Ayub, and Dante Ranieri, among others.
